Antonio Rizzo consistently produces concert quality instruments with superb tone and workmanship that will satisfy the most discriminating violinists and soloists. His violins are handcrafted from well-aged European tone woods, using spruce from Northern Italy and maple from the Tyrolean and Slavic areas. He makes his aesthetically pleasing varnish from an oil based colophony/mastic recipe. Here are some of his recently completed violins in the style of Antonio Stradivari and Guarneri del Gesu. His other proven models that produce high quality sound are patterned after models of Domenico Montagnana, Ansaldo Poggi and G.B. Gudagnini. His varnish procedures produce both pristine and realistic antique finishes that replicate the natural wear of the varnish and wood surfaces as if it happened over the ages.
